Webinar on "Good Food to Reverse Diabetes"

Webinar on Diabetes Prevention:

In 2020, 463 million people worldwide suffer from diabetes and 88 million in the region of Southeast Asia, as estimated by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). Of those 88 million, 77 million are in India, which after China, is the world's second-worst affected region. Owing to the disease and its complications, 4.2 million people died in 2019. Diabetes patients have a chance of serious COVID-19 complications (including death) that is at least two times higher than people without diabetes.

The Recent Lancet Commission on Diabetes presented a roadmap for closing the grooves in diabetes prevention, treatment, clinical expertise, and records that could save millions of lives. They advocate improving existing infrastructures to provide ongoing, comprehensive treatment and building career routes for doctors with the skills, capacity to restructure diabetes care, prepare staff from non-physicians, and make better use of technologies to enhance diabetes prevention and care in terms of accessibility, continuity, and affordability. It also advises training for specialist staff for universities, regulatory agencies and professional associations and that development partners promote diabetes research projects, especially in low and middle-income countries. They propose arranging technical educational programmes and workshops to upgrade awareness and expertise, including the proper use of medical devices, drugs and diabetes prevention and treatment technology. WHO has announced the formation of WHO Global Diabetes Compact, which is a powerful opportunity for collaborations among governments and care professionals, patient advocates and NGOs to adopt the Commission's recommendations by means of a revived global movement of diabetes.

Following the WHO guidelines, Health Infonet Health Literacy Initiative organizes a webinar on Diabetes Prevention - "Good Food to Reverse Diabetes".
